BOYS GYMNASTICS

As a member of USA Gymnastics, Montco Gym offers training in competitive levels 4 – 10.  Our team participates in the Junior Olympic, Junior Elite, and Future Stars Programs. Montco Gym’s Men’s Gymnastics Team program exists to provide gymnastics education to prepare the athlete for competition and to reach their personal goals in the pursuit of gymnastics excellence.  We offer a challenging, safe and inclusive environment for the athlete to thrive both physically and emotionally. Below you will find descriptions of our recreational programs which are all preparatory in nature. The curriculum has been crafted as such to allow those students interested in the competitive team to do so, while still offering a venue for those choosing to pursue the sport recreationally and for personal enjoyment.

Beginner gymnastics : is a 55 min class for students aged 5 and up with little to no gymnastics experience. Students will learn basic beginner skills on the six Olympic apparatus: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. Students will also work on beginner skills on trampoline, tumble trak and an introduction to strength and flexibility training. Emphasis will be placed on learning and holding basic body positions. Beginner gymnasts will explore a variety of movement patterns including rotation about all three axes (handstands, cartwheels, turns). Students aged 5 and up who have completed the beginner class will continue to work on mastery of beginner skills and learn advanced beginner skills on the six Olympic apparatus. Students will also continue to work on mastering beginner skills on trampoline, tumble trak and strength and flexibility.

Intermediate gymnastics: is a 85 min class for students aged 5 and up who have completed advanced beginner class. Students will work to master advanced beginner skills and learn intermediate skills on the six Olympic apparatus: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. Students will focus on form and body positions. Students will enhance skills on trampoline and tumble trak and will focus more on strength and flexibility.

Advanced gymnastics: is a 115 min class for students aged 6 and up who have completed the intermediate class. Students will continue mastering intermediate skills and begin working on more advanced skills on the six Olympic apparatus: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. Students will build on advanced skills using trampoline, tumble trak, with serious focus on strength training and flexibility. Athletes in advanced gymnastics work on linking skills together in routines as well as performing skills with confidence and artistry.
